At the first virtual meeting of national tourism secretaries, FAITH urges immediate national coordination between states, as it is the most critical for the revival of tourism

FAITH the political federation of all national associations representing the entire tourism, travel and hospitality industry of India (ADTOI, ATOAI, FHRAI, HAI, IATO, ICPB, IHHA, ITTA, TAAI, TAFI) under the leadership of MOT, GOI held a virtual meeting with tourism secretaries from all states and UTs.
In recent years, this is the third time that FAITH associations have had joint meetings with all State Secretaries for Tourism, the previous two years also being with all National Tourism Ministers.
FAITH associations stressed to Secretaries of State for Tourism the importance of tourism to India’s GDP, currency generation, national job creation, India’s soft power creation on a global scale and the creation of infrastructure for India. The FAITH associations have highlighted a two-pronged strategic approach for the revival of Indian tourism after the pandemic. At the state level, FAITH associations have asked the Secretaries of State for Tourism for coordinated support for waiver of legal obligations, electricity, utilities, parking, inter-state tax rates, waiver of SGST and the status of the industry.

We are indeed grateful to the Tourism Secretariat and their management team at ADG & JS for facilitating the same. It is indeed encouraging that all the Secretaries of State are committed to the suggestions of the FOI associations, some having already implemented the statute of industry, the exemption of property taxes, excise duties and the declaration of tourism as frontline staff for immunization. All the presidents of the FAITH Association are optimistically awaiting a great result for the revival of the travel trade. FAITH associations urged states to coordinate with MOT to ask GST council to impose 12% GST for hotels, IGST for hotels, 1.8% GST rate for tour operators , a 12% rate for f & b with full offsets, travel agent reseller model option, offsets available on fuel, alcohol, interstate taxes, aviation fuel, among other GST reforms .
