Barrow Borough Council receives award for address data management
BARROW Borough Council has received national recognition for maintaining the highest level of address data quality.
All local authorities are required to appoint an Address Custodian who is responsible for maintaining a database known as the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) as well as submitting accurate information to the national organization Geoplace.
This accurate data then becomes the go-to for a variety of organisations, including emergency services, the National Health Service, utility companies, delivery and courier companies and the Office for National Statistics.
Now, the council has received a Platinum Award for Address Data 2022. The program recognizes authorities across the country who have maintained the highest level of data quality throughout the improvement schedule.
The Platinum award is given to all authorities who have maintained the Gold standard in all criteria of the Annual Improvement Schedule, in five of the six months between October 2021 and March 2022. However, Barrow Borough Council has achieved the gold each month for the entire 12 month period.
Councilor Ann Thomson, leader of Barrow Borough Council, said: ‘This award recognizes the highest level of work in managing address data, which is vital to organizations such as our emergency services.
“My thanks and congratulations go out to everyone involved in achieving this goal on behalf of the board. As we see so often, this is an example of our teams going above and beyond to deliver the highest possible standards for Barrow. »
