J&K Govt Launches “Srinagar City Sightseeing Bus Service”

In a bid to commemorate the National Tourism Day celebration, the Kashmir Tourism Department has today launched the ‘Srinagar City Heritage Tour Bus Service’ for tourists to showcase heritage sites, cuisines and the city’s craftsmanship to enhance the experience of visitors who flock to the area from around the world.

Tourism Secretary Sarmad Hafeez in the presence of Tourism Director GN Itoo today announced the bus service which will take tourists to important sites in the city of Srinagar including Burzhama, Hariparbat, Chatipadshahi, Jamia Masjid, Hazratbal, Harwan Buddhist site, Pari Mahal and other places.

The objective of the heritage circuit is to boost the heritage tourism potential of the city in addition to the promotion of natural tourism.

Furthermore, the tourism department has simultaneously launched nationwide tours to Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Aru Valley, Doodpathri, Baderwah and other famous tourist destinations.

The Secretary, while elaborating on this unique government initiative, said the motive for launching the heritage tourist bus service is to enhance tourists’ experience of the heritage potential of the city by providing them with the best facilities. He said it was an appropriate day to launch a bus service to heritage sites while referring to the celebration of National Tourism Day.

He said the government was working under a well-planned strategy to ensure that all tourist destinations and resorts remain open during the winters while taking good care of the safety and comfort of tourists, which is always a priority. of paramount importance for the administration.

He informed that the Tourism Department is considering starting the Night Skiing and Night Shikara events in strict compliance with Covid protocols. He said all stakeholders associated with the travel and tourism industry have been fully vaccinated to contain the spread of the corona virus.

The Director of Tourism informed that in view of National Tourism Day, the department is organizing several snow events in Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Doodpathri and other places besides organizing renowned heritage tour in Srinagar.

He said on the first day of the launch of the facility, a team from Maharashtra will visit several places of great heritage significance like archaeological sites, shrines, mosque, temples in addition to kitchens and handicrafts.
