(Monrovia) – Liberia is taking another step towards improving its economic growth and employment opportunities through its tourism sector. The International Trade Center, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as well as the Liberian Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism and the Ministry of Trade and Industry organized an awareness-raising workshop on the new brand identity of Liberian tourism, which will be launched on September 27. .

Members of the National Tourism Association of Liberia had the chance to familiarize themselves with the identity of the Liberian tourism brand, thereby focusing on the marketing strategy.

The Liberia Tourism Brand Identity was developed with technical support from the International Trade Center and the United Nations World Tourism Organization under the Liberia Tourism Development Project, funded by the Enhanced Integrated Framework .

About the tourism development project

The Liberia Tourism Development Project emanates from the National Tourism Export Strategy 2016-2020 and responds to the implementation of the Strategy. It aims to develop the offers of the tourism sector by: a) improving the political environment and institutional capacity, b) developing new tourist destinations around surfing and other historical and natural attractions, and c) by undertaking targeted promotion and advocacy campaigns to promote tourism to international, regional and national markets. More specifically, the project aims to: a) establish a tourist information stand at Monrovia Roberts International Airport, b) develop tourist reception facilities on the Robertsport waterfront, Providence Island and the Marshall Island, and c) develop a tourism marketing strategy and tourism brand identity for Liberia, focusing on Robertsport as a surf tourism destination.

The project is implemented by the International Trade Center in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry; the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism; and the United Nations World Tourism Organization. It is financed by the Reinforced Integrated Framework Program.
