The theme of World Tourism Day 2021 titled “Tourism for Inclusive Growth” coincides with Cyprus’ National Strategy 2030 for Tourism, the Deputy Minister of Tourism said in a press release issued on the occasion of the World Tourism Day celebrated on September 27.

On the occasion of World Tourism Day 2021, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has called on its Member States as well as non-members, sister UN agencies, businesses and individuals “to celebrate the unique ability of tourism to ensure that no one is left behind”. as the world begins to open up again and look to the future.

“These goals are aligned with the vision of the National Tourism Strategy 2030 which is the sustainable growth of Cypriot tourism, in a way that will benefit the economy, society and the environment,” the deputy said. minister, adding that “it is clear that the role of tourism stakeholders cannot be limited to increasing tourist arrivals in the country.

Recalling that the main objective of the National Strategy is for tourism to benefit regions and social groups that until now have not benefited from the country’s tourism revenues, the Deputy Minister notes that the vision of the UNWTO is emerging from through the various actions in the context of Cyprus.

The strategy, the ministry added, places special emphasis on policies such as the development of rural areas, investments for special forms of tourism, incentives for the modernization of our tourism product and policies to promote the participation of women and artists to the provision of authentic tourism experiences.
